It is a superb series of classic, black-and-white photographs, which were created as part of a rather high-profile project by fourteen photographers entitled Alienation. The exhibition was presented for the first time in 2013 at the documentary photography festival Fotopub in Novi Mesto, and in 2014 at the MOL exhibition center in Ljubljana.
\nThe Boxer series presents itself here completely independently and is primarily an extract from the life of a successful, professional boxer. Four boxers highlight the "noble art" of boxing and break some of the negative stereotypes of this sport. They are boxing giants who express an incredible love for their work, but at the same time they are differentiated segments of time and true indicators of how transient we all are and how time and age always overtake us. The works are in no way utilitarian and do not serve any aesthetic pleasure or discussion of the beautiful. It is a visual confession that offers something to think about, reflects the attitude towards society, and at the same time communicates that our life is a game and our creation. We ourselves create what we want and what we become, but unfortunately, it doesn't always turn out the way we want it to.
\nKamnik is known for its rich and important boxing history. Just to mention a few legends - Jernej Hribar from Tuhinjska dolina, known in the USA as Mike Murphy, or coach, promoter and author of the only Slovenian book on boxing Janez Gole, and the brothers Branko and Darko Barakovi\u010d, whom all of Europe knew. And no, it's certainly not a coincidence that in 2003, the first artistic documentary film about boxing in Slovenia was premiered at the Kamnik Center of Culture (Du\u0161an Moravec and Leon Matek: Pressed in the Corner).<\/p>\n
