Our innate love of following the narration of various events accompanies us throughout our lives \u2013 from the moments when, after crawling on all fours, we listen with our mouths open to tales of knights and dragons, to the moment when a literary work absorbs us and slowly, line by line, reveals a world of unimaginable dimensions before us. Rare are those who are able to transfer these worlds to paper and share them with all those who are happy to reach for them.<\/p>\n<p>Toma\u017e Ber\u010di\u010d (1968) is also one of those who is attracted to literature. As he says, he has often wondered who is behind everything. Who is it that masterfully places words next to each other and creates content that warmly invites discovery? This is precisely why he embarked on a multi-year project in which he entered into a dialogue with contemporary Slovenian writers, thinkers, and storytellers.<\/p>\n<p>The author&#039;s dialogue with the literati results in a series of photographs that reveal the names on the covers to the viewer in a portrait format and present them to us as flesh and blood people. The verbal artwork of the depicted people is not important; their work is placed in the background, only their names draw attention to their mission. This is precisely what equalizes the position between the viewer and the portrayed. The decision to place them in a space where they feel comfortable and safe lifts the veil of their intimacy. The informality of the environment in which they are placed has allowed the viewer to see a piece of life&#039;s wisdom and experiences - something that a photograph taken in the perfection of a studio would have difficulty recording. Before us are slehrniki who share the same desires, streets, and world with us, and their creative genius is expressed only through the invitation to take a photo. One can feel the familiarity and trust; the established closeness and authenticity also invite the viewer to enter into a dialogue with the markers of the Slovenian cultural space.
