V Friday, October 2, 2020, at 7 p.m we invite you to the opening of the photographer's exhibition Dušan Letnar, which presents itself with a series of photographs of the inhabitants of Mekinje.
The author has been recording the Kamnik suburb with a photographic camera for several years and it is a work in progress. This selection focuses on portraits of children. Their carefree play already shows connections with the adult world, whether it's helping their grandparents with farm chores or distress at the loss of a canine friend. Photographs that are a kind of ethnological representation of the suburbs of Kamnik. For the people of Mekinj, however, it is a monument that connects them in time and space.
Dušan Letnar (1952) devotes most of his time to analog photography. The focus of his photographic interest in recent years is recording the industrial heritage of the former Kamnik powder factory (for Kamfest 2020 he prepared a street exhibition of photographs of Barutana) and the varied ethnographic heritage of the surrounding areas. In 2015, he had his own series Shepherds He exhibited the Great Mountains in the Gallery of Doma kulture Kamnik, and in 2017 he started with a series Nests presented in the framework Pavilion Peter Rauch in the Metelkova Museum of Contemporary Art in Ljubljana. With the series Iva, which he exhibited in Celje's AQ gallery in 2018, explored the social and living themes of an intimate family environment.
