DobraVaga x Zine Vitrine
11th international zine call

DobraVaga is organizing its 11th anniversary international zine competition this year. We kindly invite interested creators to send us their entries by October 6, 2025.

Zines:
Zines, which began to appear in the early 1960s, are still a medium through which artists, members of subcultures, etc. communicate and express themselves with the public. They were created as an alternative to mainstream printed media, which is one of the tasks they still perform today. Zines still surprise with their diversity of production and appearance, variety of functions and themes. They remain an authentic form of communication that is constantly developing, expanding and shaping. They are used by very different generations, and zines as a medium have become popular especially with young creators.

Competition:
From among the authors of all submitted zines, we will select one to be invited to an exhibition project at Kino Šiška (supported by an exhibition fee of 300 euros gross and production co-financing of the project in the amount of 200 euros). Authors of particularly outstanding zines will be invited to a presentation as part of an independent, paid exhibition as part of the Zine Vitrine program at the DobraVaga gallery.

The submitted zines will be reviewed and discussed by a professional jury consisting of artists and curators active in the field of zines. The jury will consist of Petra Berčan, Ema Kobal, Špela Pečjak, Marko Šajn and Maša Žekš.

Login:
– name and surname of the author(s)
– contact (e-mail, website, social media profiles, if they express the author's artistic creation)
– title of the zine with the year of its creation
– a numbered copy of the zine (e.g. 7/15)
– a short description of the zine (up to 500 characters with spaces)
– if the zine has previously been used or included in any other projects, a statement of these

...or bring it to DobroVaga during its opening hours. Authors will be notified of the results by email at the end of October 2025. All submitted zines will be archived in the public zine reading room Zine Vitrine, located in the DobraVaga gallery.
