Today, August 19th, we celebrate World Photography Day – a tribute to the magical power of the image, its technical scope, historical origins, and ability to document and connect people around the world.
Why August 19th? This is the day when La Société française (French Academy of Sciences) officially announced the invention in 1839. daguerreotypes, the first widely used photographic technique, developed by Louis DaguerreThe process was given to the world as a “free gift” – a milestone in the history of photography.
Of course, many other techniques have emerged over time, but this one is considered the first and officially recognized. World Photography Day is more than just a date – it is a celebration of visual storytelling, emotional truth, and global connectivity. Never before has technology been used so directly and in such a way as to connect the truth and facts.
