OPPOSITES exhibition

You are invited to a group photography exhibition entitled OPPOSITES on Friday, May 23rd at 7pm.

The Gunpowder Wall behind the Kamnik Cultural Center.

Opposites are a fundamental characteristic of the world we live in. At every moment we are surrounded by duality – light and darkness, noise and silence, peace and movement, proximity and distance, nature and civilization. These apparent or real opposites shape our view of the world, our experiences and emotions. They are a source of tension, but also of inspiration. In short, opposites are found everywhere and in very different forms.

The photography exhibition Contrasts is the fruit of creative reflection by various authors who, through their photographic language, explored how contrasts are reflected in space, time and relationships. Each photograph is an independent view, reflection, story. Together, they create a mosaic that challenges the viewer to transcend the superficial and banal perception of differences and seek the deeper meaning of their coexistence.

Some authors approached the subject with a distinctly documentary sharpness – capturing moments where contradictions are evident in society, architecture or the natural environment. Others indulged in a more poetic expression, where contradictions are present in the color scheme or symbolism of the chosen motifs. What they all have in common is a sincere effort to not only depict the world through photography, but also to make sense of it.

The exhibition Opposites does not offer definitive answers, but rather opens a space for dialogue – between author and viewer, between form and meaning, between the visible and the invisible. It invites us to ask ourselves: are opposites really something that divides, or perhaps something that connects?

Perhaps it is in the gap between light and dark, warm and cold, soft and sharp that what speaks to us most directly emerges – a pure image of reality as seen by the photographer's eye.
