Celebration of the solemn 50th anniversary of the Days of National Costumes and clothing
heritage will also be commemorated in the premises of the Municipality of Kamnik. Kamnik photographer
and member of Photo Club Kamnik, Dušan Letnar, exhibits a series of black and white photographs
Passers by. The series was created in 2018, when we last watched it in Kamnik
parade of national costumes. Let's remember, in 2019, the weather, the year, was bad for us
later, an epidemic prevented the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the festival.
This is also why the exhibition has even greater significance today.

Dušan Letnar recorded the passing of the participants in his black and white photographs
and moments of carefreeness, joy and pride. He avoided being documented
clothes and focused on the emotions of the participants. Some participants
noticed the photographer with a smile, others in passing remained loyal to the display
costumes, others greeted friends in dynamic action or with a gesture. He took photos
from the same position, with a 50 mm lens, which brings the camera closest to the human
view. He established that distance that preserves authenticity in photographs
of the moment, but in the artistic sense it establishes a convincing author's poetics.
He completed his artistic vision by developing photographic film and making enlargements
large format (60 x 90 centimeters). The series is therefore motivated and
technically a tribute to "time found again" and a new interpretation of tradition: ours
extraordinary clothing heritage and analog photographs.

Dušan Letnar (1952) devotes most of his time to analog photography. In focus
his photographic interest in recent years is recording the industrial
heritage of the former Kamnik gunpowder store (for Kamfest 2020 he prepared a street
exhibition of photographs of Barutana) and the varied ethnographic heritage of the surrounding areas.
He remains a faithful recorder of everyday life in Kamnik. In 2015
exhibited his series Pastirji Velika Planina in the Gallery of the Kamnik Cultural Center,
and in 2017, he presented the Nests series as part of the Petr Rauch Pavilion
in the Metelkova Museum of Contemporary Art in Ljubljana. With the Iva series, which has been around for years
In 2018, he exhibited in the AQ gallery in Celje, researching social and living topics
intimate family environment. In 2020, it is in the Gallery of the Kamnik House of Culture
presented the ongoing series My Neighbors, in which he records everyday life
of its neighbors and the pulse of the suburbs of Kamnik. He exhibited his works at
in numerous group exhibitions and in 2014 and 2016 also participated in international ones
Biennale of contemporary photography Photonic Moments, and in 2017 at
group exhibition Repetition at Cirkulacija 2 gallery in Ljubljana. Since 2005
is a member of the Kamnik Photo Club.
