You are cordially invited to the opening of the photography exhibition Makrofotografija, by Janez Glavač, which will be held on Wednesday, February 1, at 8 p.m. in the gallery of the Kamnik House of Culture.
Behind its title, the photography exhibition Makrofotografija hides a true wealth of scenes from nature, captured in the photographic lens of Janez Glavač, otherwise a veterinarian and hunting inspector and a great lover of nature.
The main role this time is played by insects caught in the natural environment, which in all its beauty flourishes in front of us, on a nearby lawn or home garden, but we all too often overlook them due to the responsibilities of everyday life.
It is precisely this world that Janez Glavač's photographs bring to us. The exhibition includes a diverse set of photographs created by the author over a period of several years. On one, a butterfly proudly poses in the splendor of colors, on another, the struggle for survival takes place, on the third, an effort to preserve the species. The undergrowth seems to be humming, spluttering, and humming in front of us in all its liveliness.
The challenge for Janez Glavač is to find nature's hidden treasures among herbs, leaves and flowers in gardens, meadows and forests. Thus, all the present photographs were taken in the home environment of the portrait subjects, with natural light, and all the actors in the photographs, after giving the author joy and happiness, calmly and unharmed continued their mission.
Additional value to the exhibition is given by the descriptions of the photographed insects, prepared by the internationally recognized entomologist Stanislav Gomboc, and they help the uneducated viewer to understand the motifs in the photographs. Insects have been his passion since his early youth, when he began to discover the nature of Prekmurje with a butterfly. Due to his daily duties at work, he spends many nights in nature with his insect study devices, recorder and camera, alone or in the company of friends. Over the years, he edited one of the largest scientific collections of insects on a European scale. It publishes popular, professional and scientific articles. He is an important author and co-author of books on butterflies and grasshoppers, especially for the fauna of Slovenia, and to a lesser extent also of Europe.
You can see the exhibition until March 1.
